FAN National Forest (59.3KB)First Addition National Forest:  This row of trees originally included plantings of Pacific Arborvitae, Sitka Spruce, Western White Pine, Shore Pine, Mountain Hemlock, California Incense Cedar, Ponderosa Pine, and Pacific Hemlock. The trees were transplanted from the Mt. Hood area by the Meyer family, who lived in a house on this property for many years.

Sitka Spruce is native to the Northwest, usually in coastal areas, and can become quite massive. The largest in the US, near Seaside, is 52+ feet in circumference and 216+ feet in height. Bald eagles use these trees for roosting. The high resonant qualities of the wood make it useful for musical instruments. sitka spruce bark  sitka spruce needles
