Green Streets

E Avenue on a rainy day

“Green Streets” could be a solution to drainage problems and traffic calming, while organizing parking, increasing landscaping and providing pathways to the school.

The City of Lake Oswego has completed a green street demonstration project on Tenth Street between Evergreen Road and E Avenue.

An example of a green street treatment that may provide ideas is Seattle’s SEA (Street Edge Alternative) Street at www2.cityofseattle.net/util/tours/seastreet/slide1.htm.

Metro also has information on their web site about green streets - see Green Streets: Innovative Solutions for Stormwater and Stream Crossings.
